Welcome to Santander! Thanks for opening an account with us. You can find answers to some frequently asked questions about our promotional offers below:
Please refer to the unique offer details you received when you opened your account.

All offers require that you provide a valid promotional code when opening a new account.

Additional offer details typically include actions you need to take within a certain amount of time from opening your account.

Once you’ve met your requirements in the period provided in your offer details, we’ll evaluate your account.

Your account must be open and in good standing at the time of evaluation and bonus payment.

Get paid! You’ll receive your cash bonus within 30 days of your evaluation period.
For example, if you open a new Santander account on June 1 and your offer requirements are:

Open a new Santander checking account, then use direct deposit to add $5,000 within 90 days of opening your account.

Open a new qualifying Santander checking account using the promotional code provided.

Set up direct deposit

Use that direct deposit to add $5,000 within 90 days of opening the account.

So, if you open your account on June 1, you would need to set up direct deposit to add $5,000 by August 30 to meet the requirements. Then you would need to keep your account in good standing until September 30 to receive your cash bonus deposit into your account.

Qualifying direct deposits include your:

Government benefits (such as Social Security)

Other eligible regular monthly income from your employer or the government that is electronically deposited to your checking account

Qualifying direct deposits do not include:

Online and Mobile Banking transfers or deposits, person-to-person transfers (such as Zelle® or Venmo™)

To earn the new customer cash bonus, you must be:

A new Santander checking or savings customer

18 years or older.

A resident in NH, MA, RI, CT, DE, NY, NJ, PA, and FL ZIP codes in Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Broward counties.

Please note: unless the offer specifically states it, you can’t combine this offer with any other cash bonus offers. No double-dipping!

That depends on your offer details.

If the offer details say the cash bonus offer is only available for new checking account customers, then customers who have had a Santander checking account in the last 12 months are not eligible for a cash bonus.

If the offer details say the cash bonus offer is only available for adding a Santander consumer savings account to accompany your Santander consumer checking account, then current Santander consumer checking customers who do not already have (or have had in the past 12 months) a savings account or money market savings account are eligible.

Cash bonus promotional codes are usually assigned to individuals. As a result, the code will not work again once the addressee (originally intended recipient) redeems it.

You must provide the promotion code when you open your new account.

You should receive an email from us within the first two weeks of opening your account with a link to important details about your cash bonus.

We’ll also send a reminder email so you can take the necessary steps in time to get your cash bonus.

No. To earn the cash bonus, you’ll need to meet all of your offer requirements during the eligible dates of the promotional offer.

Unless the offer terms require opening multiple accounts at the same time (for example, a new consumer checking and new consumer savings account), only one new account will be eligible for the bonus.

The new checking account cash bonus cannot be combined with any other checking bonus offers.

You’ll need to provide the promotional code when you open your new account during the eligible dates of the promotional offer.

For your convenience, you have a 14-day grace period from the date you open your account to provide your promotional code.

For example, if you open your account on June 1, your promotional code needs to be added by June 14.

Your evaluation date will still be calculated from that enrollment date of June 1, regardless of when your promotional code is added.

Once you’ve completed the necessary requirements, your cash bonus will be paid with a deposit to your account within 30 days. You’ll also need to keep your account open and in good standing until we deposit your bonus payment.

Yes. Any time you get a bonus for opening a new account, whether in the form of cash or merchandise, that bonus is considered interest and will be reported to the IRS on Form 1099-INT at the end of the year. When in doubt, though, check with a tax professional.
