How we handle

overdrafts

A commonsense approach that's designed to help you avoid many typical overdraft situations and fees.

Overdraft Overview

Life is complicated. It's easy to lose track of how you're spending your hard earned money. Even if you're on top of your finances, overdrafts may happen.

Overdrafts occur when you don't have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. Items presented for processing may be paid or returned and fees may be charged. Overdraft fees can add up, but they don't have to. We're here to help you understand your options.

Our commonsense Overdraft Policy makes it easier to avoid fees.

Santander Safety Net

Our overdraft threshold is $100, meaning if we pay a transaction that causes your account's balance to be overdrawn by $100 or less, we will not charge an overdraft fee.

Daily Overdraft Fee Cap

Our daily overdraft cap is three (3), meaning you won't be charged more than three (3) times a day for items we pay into overdraft.

No Overdraft Protection Transfer Fee

We don't charge an Overdraft Protection Transfer Fee, meaning you won't be charged when we transfer funds to your overdrawn checking account from your linked deposit account.
