Understanding the changes coming to Santander Personal Loans
Santander is no longer accepting new online personal loan applications beginning May 12, 2025. If you submitted an application prior to that date and want to check on an application in progress, you can access Santander’s Consumer Lending Portal.
We considered many factors in making this decision, which are explained in the question and answer section below. If you're an existing personal loan client or have recently applied for a personal loan with us, please know that this announcement does not affect you. We will continue to service existing personal loans under the same terms and process recently submitted loan applications.

Santander has decided to temporarily stop accepting new online personal loan applications beginning May 12, 2025.
This decision was made based on current economic conditions and to allow us to focus our efforts on developing a truly differentiated digital consumer lending platform. We remain committed to our clients, small businesses, and the communities we serve. Please note that our credit card business is not impacted by this decision.
If you have an existing personal loan, you are not impacted by this change and we’ll continue to service your personal loan.
If you recently submitted a personal loan application, please know we’ll continue to process any applications and close approved personal loans that have been submitted before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time Sunday, May 11, 2025.
If you recently submitted a personal loan application and Santander Bank has requested additional information from you, please continue to submit this information as directed.
